I Got Nothin'

I've sat here on this New Year's Day, trying to think of what I want to write for my first blog post of the year, and I got nothin'. The garden is frozen and mostly brown, which doesn't inspire me much. I've made no resolutions (can't keep them) and have no great plans for the year. I tend to live life pretty spontaneously, so who knows what's in store for me? I like to keep my options open.

So that's it for me waxing philosophical.

In other news, tomorrow is my second blogiversary. If you would have told me I'd be able to write and maintain a blog focused mainly on gardening for this long two years ago, I wouldn't have believed you. But here it is and here we go, for another year!

To those of you who have come along for the ride - thank you. It's so much more fun with friends.

I didn't write anything directed toward a new year, either, but was thinking about doing a refection on last year's garden like some have done. I have other ideas ready to go, too, though, and this one would take more time to do. Still, I would enjoy it. Tomorrow, I need to clean house and get ready for having company Sunday for our grandson's first birthday.

That's a lovely sun-filled photo you posted.

Sue ~ I considered doing "a year in review" kind of post like I did last year. Actually last year, it was four different posts, each encompassing three months of the year. That DOES take oodles of time and effort. I just haven't felt up to doing it this week. Still, I might get to it in the coming weeks. There's not an abundance of gardening things to write about when you're in the middle of winter, is there?

Oh, a first birthday! Have fun!

Hey, Kylee - I beg to differ that you "didn't get nothin". That photo is just incredible!
The ironic thing about garden blogging is that during the growing season when there's lots to share, you are sooo busy with the garden, and in the Winter when there's more time, there isn't much to write about. :-[
Happy 2nd Blog Anniversary! Mine is coming up in the Spring.

Congratulations on two years. I can't believe you haven't been blogging longer as it seems like I have known you longer.

Brenda ~ Congratulations on your blogiversary! (How do you spell that, anyways?) If you're chatty like me, you'll have no trouble making it another year! ;-)

Connie ~ I cannot tell a lie. That photo is from last winter. Right now, we don't have snow or ice, just cold, frozen brown ick.
You are SO right about weather and blogging! I found myself getting bogged down and behind with blogging this summer and then in winter, you have to really get creative (and I just wasn't feeling it today).

Earth Girl ~ I think it seems like longer because we met early in my blogging life! Yours was one of the first blogs I ever read and then I met you at the Home and Garden Show shortly after that. It does seem like it's been longer, though! :-)

Good to hear from you today Mz Kylee even if you didn't have anything profound to impart. Some days are just like that.

I want to congratulate you on your second blogaversary. That is quite a feat considering your marathon preparations, wedding and all else that life seems to throw at us.

Hang in there girl, I always enjoy visiting here.

Lisa ~ Whenever I see you've commented, I always smile. You are one of my most faithful readers and commentors! I'm sorry I'm not that good at it myself, in return. Seems like I'm always playing catch-up!

Hugs to you, Lisa!

I would say I have been on board for a rather small % of the blog life. Glad it made it long enough for me to find it. Lovely sun in that winter garden.

Well, happy blogiversary one day early! I have to say that I've had similar thoughts today about not being one bit philosophical about the new year. I was daydreaming about planting pots of annuals last night just before the new year came in and then today was so foggy and dreary it seems the farthest thing from reality to plant pots of color. Us gardeners sure aren't much fun in the winter are we? ;)

Hugs,
Cindy

I do sympathize; I look back at my January posts and often it does seem like I'm reaching! But it's a good exercise to try to find something garden-related to say, even in times like these.

Happy New Year! I almost always have a poem for a holiday--takes the pressure off. And being in Arizona, there's always something blooming to show.

It was hard for me to think of something to post for new year either. Anyways, it's just me here blogging around. A good new year to you.

Happy second blog anniversary! That is wonderful Kylee ... you've done great at keeping your blog going. It's always a treat coming here. Here's to many more good years. (I'm like you with the resolutions and refuse to make any now ...)

Hi, Kylee--Even your "nothin'" is amazing! Beautiful photograph (even if it is a year old!). Happy blogiversary too (that's how I'd spell it), and thanks for all the fun and interesting posts. I have been following your blog for about a year now, and wanted you to know that you have been my chief inspiration to start my own blog--which I finally launched just two days ago. (I even took your advice and started with 3 columns right off the bat. Now I just hafta figure out what to fill them with.) Best wishes for a creative new year of gardening successes (okay, and for success in the rest of your fascinating life as well! :)

Happy anniversary on your second year of blogging, Kylee! I feel like you are a friend even though I've never met you! I always look forward to your blog posts.

I think I'd rather have snow, (not ice), any day than have the drab nothingness of winter.

Kerri said...

I agree with Robin, snow (definitely not ice!) is much preferred over nothing on the ground in winter. That photo is glorious!
I'm like you...always playing catch-up!
Happy 2nd blogiversary to you. Hard to believe, but I'm coming up on my 3rd year!
Wishing you and Romie much joy and many blessings for 2009.
I just know you'll come up with plenty of interesting posts! :)

Happy Blogiversary... and while you may not think you have much, that is one gorgeous photograph! Vision, light, and "tomorrow" is quite a lot.

Wayne ~ Thanks, Wayne! I hope you'll visit regularly! That photo was taken on a very cold winter day last year and is what I see when I stand in my front yard and look to the southwest. The sun looks as though it would be warm, but it's just too darn far away...

Cindy ~ Thanks, Cindy! No, we are moping around, wishing for spring, when we should be enjoying the break. Soon enough, we'll be busy with spring chores and have aching backs. It sounds good, though...somehow. LOL
Hugs back!

EAL ~ You're right - it makes me really think about some of those gardening things that I sometimes take for granted. Winter is good for introspection.

Aiyana ~ Happy New Year to you, too, Aiyana! Oh yes, you always have the most gorgeous blooms to show us! And don't think I'm not jealous of the warm weather, especially now!

Flower ~ Some days are like that, aren't they? Happy New Year to you as well!

Pam ~ Thanks, Pam. I look forward to that, too! LOL

Deborah ~ Thank you! I hope you'll return and visit often!

Kate ~ Thank you, Kate! There are times when blogging seems more like work, but 95% of the time, it's truly a labor of love.

Donna ~ You humble me! I'm so glad you decided to start blogging! It's addictive, which you will soon find out. I look forward to following your own journey! :-)

Robin ~ I feel the same of you, Robin, and I hope to actually meet you one day!
I agree - snow covering the brown is much better!

Kerri ~ I agree, too! Snow over ice any day! Isn't it amazing how quickly the time passes? I'll try to remember that as we trudge through winter. :-)Thank you for the good wishes and I will try not to disappoint you!

Knitting Painter Woman ~ Thank you! It was taken last year and it's what I see from my front yard, looking southwest.
