Debbi ~ LOL! He looks pretty angry, doesn't he? I do love his eyes, though.

We were below the nest, which was WAY high up in a crazily tall tree. My camera has a 20x optical zoom with a 4x digital zoom, so this was taken with 80x total zoom. I played around with ISOs, making some higher because at that distance and zoom factor, it's hard to hold the camera still! That's why the second photo is so grainy. It was likely taken using a 1600 ISO. The first one was with a slower one, maybe 200 or 400.

If he had come swooping down on us, I would have hit the ground running for sure! Just look at those talons!

Wow Kylee! what a fabulous Photo of the Eagle, I just love birds of prey.
I find the 4x zoom and higher cameras to be very handy.

Jodi ~ They always give me a thrill! My grandma (age 94) told me a story yesterday about her brother, who when he was a young man, was out hunting, as he liked to do. He saw a hawk (he thought) and shot it. When he got to the bird, he saw it was an eagle! She said he dug a very deep hole and the eagle "disappeared." Of course, he never would have shot it if he'd been aware it was an eagle. This was likely 75 years ago that this happened and her brother has been dead for many years. He was so afraid that his mistake would be found out and he'd go to jail.

Janet ~ They are HUGE! And their nests are even MORE huge!

Cathy ~ Romie is in love with hawks and while those don't thrill me, the eagle sure does!
Yes, I love my camera!

Catherine ~ It's pretty easy, Catherine. I'm sure you'll figure it out quickly!

TC ~ Glad to be of service! :-)

We saw an eagles nest from the road when we were driving over to your house from AA. I wonder if these were the same ones. See you soon.

It's wonderful to know that the eagle population has been growing quite steadily! We see them often, but I've never been THAT close! :-) Cute post.
