The Remains of the Day

We ate pancakes for breakfast, cleaned out the neighbors' front flower beds, planted sunflower and other seeds, planted annuals and perennials, transplanted the 'Blue Satin' hardy hibiscus, prepared a new bed for the rhubarb, planted the new rhubarb in its new bed, deadheaded more daffodils, ate lunch, tweeted on Twitter, hoed between the rows of peas, loved up a kitty or two, looked at the other neighbor's mourning dove that was nesting, planted a peony, enjoyed the feel of the sun on my back, finished planting the front railing flower boxes, made plant labels, observed the Jack-in-the-Pulpit coming up from seeds planted last fall, transplanted sedum from my garden to the neighbor's pond hill, took a few photographs, chatted with the neighbors, did some dishes, changed the bed sheets, took a bath, ate supper, and ...

... collapsed.

Sounds like a nice full day. How nice that you help your neighbors with their garden!

Our neighbor is gravely ill with cancer and when it seems like there's nothing to do to help, it's the little things like this that there's no way they can do, but we can.

Yes, we were tired, but it was a good tired! :-)

Dee ~ LOL. Oh I'm sure you've had many an exhausting day like that, too. :-) As far as my neighbor is concerned, she's such a wonderful person who has worked so hard her entire life, raised four fabulous boys, taken care of her husband, has brought me cookies and ice cream and other wonderful eats, we listened to each others' tales of woe as we walked down the road, and she's given me hugs when I needed them. I'm so sad that she's having to endure so much right now. Prayers for Helen - whatever her future may hold - would be appreciated!

Connie ~ She's been a wonderful neighbor, Connie. A much better one than I've been.

That was a full day! I stayed up too late last night on the computer, and did not have enough energy today to do everything that needed to be done.

Dang Girl, you sure know how to fill up a day. I must get one of those Blue Satin hardy hibiscus. My middle son collects hardies and would just love that.

What a day you've had - and what a good neighbour you are too! I'll add my prayers to yours for Helen and hope her recovery is swift and complete.

PS - I love the photo of Boo!
