Frosty Morn - A Photo Essay

While I don't particularly like cold weather, I do always love a morning that hangs heavy with fog and hoarfrost this time of year. The sun had risen by the time I had done the same and I knew I had to hurry if I wanted to capture some images before gentle breezes disturbed the frosty beauty hanging from the trees, shrubs, flowers...just about every surface.

In a matter of minutes, the fluffy particles began to fall from their perches and it was just another cold autumn day in northwest Ohio. But before that happened...

Rosa 'Cinco de Mayo'

Hibiscus syriacus 'Blue Satin' seed pods, wearing frosty webs
like Christmas garland

Rosa 'Cinco de Mayo'

Pussy Toes (Antennaria)

Chrysanthemum

Acer palmatum 'Emperor I'

Web-covered seed head of Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Hameln'

Time for a certain frosty frog to come in for the winter.

Rhamnus frangula 'Fine Line' in the glow of the rising sun

Curly willow (Salix babylonica 'Crispa')

Sweet Autumn Clematis (Clematis terniflora) seed head

Sage

Rosa 'Morning Magic'

Frost gives us a whole new perspective, doesn't it?

Frost is always one of those things that seem beautiful and sad all at the same time.

Hi!
These pics are absolutely magnificent with such cool colors of nature.
I came across your blog on internet and wondered why I haven't visited it before. I am a hobby gardener myself and love to see my plants grow and produce nice flowers.

I am an instant follower and bookmarked the blog instantly.
On my first visit to the blog I would like to share something too. I recently came across a magnificent resource which gives us a wonderful opportunity to Organize Seeds easily and conveniently. And the best thing is that its still FREE to join.
I am sure that you and other blog followers will love it too!
I hope to learn more about gardening from you and other fellows here.

Wow, some stunning photos there Kylee - I especially love the curly willow :)
We've only had one frost so far, then it went back to being warm and wet!

I love a hazy frosty morning too, especially if I have a hot beverage and warm slippers. Love the frost shots. I think the frost makes everything look magical.

They are all beautiful photos Kylee. Good for you getting out there and capturing the images. I'm not much on cold either.

Beautiful images here. Looks like Jack Frost is getting ready to tuck things in for a winter's nap at your place.

There's something magical & fairy-like about frost. Your photos are so wonderful with such an airy quality to them.

The frost is so beautiful -- like everything was dipped in a fine sugar. Mr. Frog looks quite indignant at having those webs on his head! :)

Hi, Kylee;
Spotted your tweets and realized I had not visited for awhile. Popped over to say hello.

Oh, my, these photos are beautiful! Just lovely.

Weather in my little world is quite weird compared to yours. Your gardens (and many other low elevation areas) are experiencing 'cold' and we are not. I rode horses in a tank top today (we live in a ski resort!) Strange days...

Hope all is well.

Kylee - wonderful frost photos. I especially love the double entendre of the Cinco de Mayo rose on this cold Ohio morning!

Beautiful, Kylee. We haven't been moist enough here to have that kind of frost yet. Something to look forward to. :)
