On the Ninth Day of Christmas, It's My Ninth Blogiversary!

Co-authored with Jenny Peterson,
our book
was one of the Top 20 Amazon
Books of 2013 in its category.
I can hardly believe it's been nine years since I began writing Our Little Acre, sharing my gardening adventures. What began as a way to document what went on in my garden at the urging of my older daughter, Kara, has led to another career as a writer. I never dreamed I would get paid for stringing words together.

Much has happened in the last nine years and when I look back on it, I think mostly of the people whom I never would have met had I not started blogging. The garden events and opportunities that have come my way have been marvelous and I'm grateful for them. But they would not have been nearly as enjoyable without the numerous others who have shared my ride.

One of my favorite things I ever participated in,
thanks to P. Allen Smith and Crew!

In 2007, my first year of blogging, I wrote 386 blog posts. That's more than one a day. Apparently, I had a lot to say.

Thank you to those who have come and gone and especially to those who have hung in there with me ever since I had my Julie and Julia moment nearly nine years ago. (Who are these people? They're reading my blog!)

Because of other obligations and opportunities involving family and work, my frequency of posting here has slowed considerably. Facebook makes it easy to make quick, informal posts, but one of my goals for 2016 is to get back at blogging more regularly.

I still have a lot to say.

Congratulations on your ninth anniversary, Kylee! That is really impressive! Facebook has taken away somewhat from blogging, especially when we're short on time. But I still enjoy reading blogs and really getting to know so many gardening friends.

Congrats, Kylee! Wow, nine years--that's an amazing accomplishment! I'm so glad we met on Facebook, and then actually had a chance to talk in person at the Fling. Looking forward to more adventures together in the years ahead! I enjoyed the video. :)

Caroline ~ Thank you! Actually, I meant to correct that before publishing. It was only 386. LOL.

Colleen ~ Thank you! :-)

Donna ~ What a sweet thing for you to say! That means a lot. You've taught me much about photography. Your images are so beautiful. I would like to do another book. ;-)

Rose ~ Yes, I find that it's so much easier to just share little things when they happen on Facebook instead of taking more time to elaborate in a blog post. But I do kind of miss writing them so you should see more regular posting here. I'm glad that we've had the chance to meet in real life!

Karin ~ Thank you, Karin! I would never have guessed that I'd still be blogging nine years later when this all started!

Lisa ~ Thank you. I'm SO glad you feel the positiveness that I feel and try to express in my writing. YOU are the one I particularly had in mind when I was talking about those who have "hung in there with me." I think you have to get the prize for the most faithful reader AND commentor. It has not gone unnoticed, and I appreciate it more than you know. <3

Beth ~ Thank you! I'm glad we finally got to meet in real life, too! We've got so much in common, it's eery. And I have no doubt whatsoever that there are more adventures we'll share. *wink*
