And the green streaked on the back of the flower petals. I photographed a fraction of what we have (not unnlike how you did yours) and posted them on Mother's Day. :-) [K]Kim at Rustic Garden Bistrohttp://rusticgardenbistro.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3070488376505303445.post-79582758703822489412010-05-17T22:56:29.039-04:002010-05-17T22:56:29.039-04:00Cinj ~ The weather this spring has definitely been...Cinj ~ The weather this spring has definitely been different! We're about two to three weeks ahead of schedule! I've still got one tree peony to bloom. The herbaceous peonies aren't blooming yet. Well, one is - 'Rosea Plena' - but the others will be a little while yet. Still have some irises that haven't started yet, either.Kylee Baumlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04288354709094515651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3070488376505303445.post-75741948573344642742010-05-17T20:21:56.135-04:002010-05-17T20:21:56.135-04:00Wow Kylee, that's quite a lot of gorgeous bloo...Wow Kylee, that's quite a lot of gorgeous blooms. I want to make it around to see some of the other gardens for GBBD, so I'll be sure to come visit yours later when I'm at home!Kylee Baumlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04288354709094515651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3070488376505303445.post-55940558624567346932010-05-17T12:54:44.502-04:002010-05-17T12:54:44.502-04:00Gina ~ I just pick them up here and there. I like growing natives, too!

Kari ~ Siberian Irises are a big favorite of mine. I like them better than the German Bearded because they're more dainty, as is the foliage.

Helen ~ Well, we do have an acre here. LOL. I have no will power when it comes to a pretty flower or unusual plant. The Baptisia shot was simply shot against an overcast sky. I focused first on the plant, then tilted the lens up to take in the top of the plant. If I hadn't done that, it would have been a silhouette of the plant. Thanks! I like the effect, too!

Lisa ~ /Thanks! Yes, it certainly is the best time of year!

Darla ~ Thanks! I'm loving May, too! :-)

Dave ~ Thanks, Dave! Would you like some seeds? They're easy to grow from seed. I wintersowed some a few years ago and those are blooming now. Let me know!

Rhonda ~ You're so kind to say that! Thank you. And I feel your pain with the garden tour thing. We were on a tour last year and it wasn't until August 9th! I felt like the garden was hanging on by its fingernails! (Do flowers have fingernails?? LOL)

Nancy ~ Thanks, Nancy! The lime green foliage behind the iris is from the Tradescantia 'Sweet Kate.' Actually, it's blooming right now, too.
I LOVE 'Vancouver Centennial' and buy it every year. For some dumb reason, that is one Pelargonium that I have problems overwintering. No problems with others. But it's worth buying again and again!

Lona ~ I actually don't know what Iris that is, but since you have said 'Oreo' that's what I'll call it! We found it growing along a ditch near where we live. There used to be an old house there, so the irises are likely very old as well.

Robin ~ Happy Birthday!! And Happy Mother's Day, too! Centaurea is a favorite of mine now, but it wasn't always. I think they take awhile to really establish and be outstanding bloomers. For me, anyway!Kylee Baumlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04288354709094515651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3070488376505303445.post-42005129867675542602010-05-17T12:43:52.465-04:002010-05-17T12:43:52.465-04:00Your garden is lovely, Kylee, and ahead of mine .....Your garden is lovely, Kylee, and ahead of mine ... but peonies and iris getting close.joeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09569378877717221045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3070488376505303445.post-81478832815662140052010-05-17T11:14:21.373-04:002010-05-17T11:14:21.373-04:00May has always been my favorite month. I was just looking at the Chicago Botanic Garden website where they list what's in bloom in their native garden area and you have several from the list.
