Others will come in where the plants can't conform to the new weather patterns. Natives have been around a lot longer than we have been around.Lisa at Greenbowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07743973292900758183noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3070488376505303445.post-44384725557818159412010-10-16T23:34:00.578-04:002010-10-16T23:34:00.578-04:00Actually, I believe the change in range of plant a...Actually, I believe the change in range of plant and animal species is already happening. For example, several species of picas (small squirrel-like animals) in the Sierra Nevada occupy niches at different altitudes. As the winters get milder, the all migrate upward, a bit more each year. Soon the top pica will have nowhere to go.

That's why it's good we gardeners do what we can...Town Mousehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09777461911856383480noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3070488376505303445.post-45461395391088764182010-10-16T19:04:43.361-04:002010-10-16T19:04:43.361-04:00I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooo want a Silene virginica! However, birds and other factors can carry natives to another geographical location where they CAN thrive. It's like you said, natives may "move" to adjust to climate change.Cindy Garber Iversonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15543940998038589239noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3070488376505303445.post-30789430805809880502010-10-16T11:42:59.054-04:002010-10-16T11:42:59.054-04:00I too think we are having some serious climate cha...I too think we are having some serious climate changes. I hope native plants can survive, but I guess it all will have to change eventually, so some plants might just not make the cut.~ferhttp://www.mygardeninjapan.com/noreply@blogger.com
