Macro Monday #2 - Tree Peony

Though the tree peonies (Paeonia suffruticosa) are done for the season - blooming, anyway - they still put on a show for a little while longer, as this seed head shows.  Just another example of wabi-sabi...

Want to see what it looked like about a week before that photo was taken?

Barely recognizable, isn't it?

The seedhead looks other worldly.

Looks like a creepy-crawly thing in the first shot! A great example of how strange and amazing plants are.

Love the tree peony seed head--almost more than the bloom. I kinda feel that way about poppies, too. My very first rose ever, 'Golden Wings' has sent out its first few blooms. :)

The tree peony blooms are so fleeting (mine peaked while I was away for 1 week), that I am growing more and more fond of the seedheads too. Yours is amazing, with the little pink tails. Love it!

I love peonies! And, you can certainly take beautiful photographs.
The peony seedpod is one of my favorite subjects to take a picture of. That and the ant on a peony bud!
