Nature's Alphabet

"Nature will bear the closest inspection.
She invites us to lay our eye level with her smallest leaf, and take an insect view of its plain."

~ Henry David Thoreau

There was a book I remember hearing about last year that fascinated me. Discovering Nature's Alphabet is a collection of photographic images by husband and wife team, Krystina Castella and Brian Boyl. In each photograph, natural elements form a letter of the alphabet.

I thought it would be fun to go through the hundreds of photographs of my own to see if I could find natural letters and make some words. Fun? Yes. Easy? Hardly. You have to look through new eyes at familiar things in order to see the alphabetic shapes.

Yeah...well...you try to find a capital R in Nature...

Wow! This is pretty cool...although the thoughts of trying it myself made me so tired, I thought about joining Spunky Boomerang in a nap (he's having his mid-evening nap, which is the one before the pre-going to bed nap).

Very clever, Kylee!

Wow! I'm a kindergarten teacher and we make the alphabet in all kinds of ways like with Cheerios, clay, sand, glitter, pipe cleaners. Nature Alphabet is a new one for me. Gotta go look through my photos...

Kylee, I love it! Those are great nature letter finds. I can't imagine how long that project must have taken you. I don't think I'll be doing Robin's Nesting Place any time soon!

Tee ~ Isn't it a great thing to make you look at something in a new way? ;-)

Jodi ~ It wasn't that bad to do. When you've got as many photos to choose from as I do (and I'm sure you do!), it makes it a little easier.
It must be in the Kitty Code of Conduct that they are required to get 22 hours of sleep a day. I think I'll come back as a kitty in my next life. I want my same house though. :-D

Willow ~ Oh, your little kindergarteners would have so much fun with this! And you, too!

Robin ~ I didn't start looking until today. It really didn't take me any longer to do that post than most of my other ones. I'm not sure what that says about me. LOL.
Oh, come on! You can do it! :-)

What a fun way of looking at nature Kylee. Well done that you could find all the letters to spell the name of your blog.

Kylee, What a fun and entertaining post! What better way to spend a few hours in the mid-winter while waiting for spring to return? Blessings to you.... there on your 'little acre'.

This is hilarious fun, Kylee. If I were Pam from "Digging" maybe it would be worth trying but not with my long blog name!

I thought for sure I left a comment here. I think this is so interesting. It gives us a new way to look at our garden and garden photos.

We were given a framed poster that has pictures of butterfly wings that spell the alphabet. It is so colorful. It makes me look at butterfly wings in a different way.
