Summer means vacation time to me, although we usually never plan a proper one. This summer was no different in that respect, but the trip that Mom and I just returned from last evening seemed like one of epic proportions when it came to the experiences we had.
We attended Buffa10, the annual get-together of garden bloggers from across the US and Canada, that event that's been listed in my sidebar for the last several months.
I will let the experiences and images unfold in my memory and on here over the next few days. But for now, I'm off to OFA Short Course in Columbus, Ohio, where I will join Joan Moyers, the art director for Horticulture magazine. I'm accompanying her as staff photographer! It's sure to be another amazing fun time.
More to come!
P.S. That's me in the plaid dress in the photo on the Buffa10 site, wading in the creek. That was just one of the wonderful experiences I had there!

Kylee, I've seen your smiling face in the photos of other blogs. Looks like a wonderful time meeting other gardeners. Wish that I could have been there. Have fun with your photo assignment!
I can't wait to hear all about your summer of delights and sights.
Wish I could go with you to OFA! I spoke there three years ago and didn't realize until I got there what I'd gotten into. It's an amazing place to learn and see the latest and greatest of horticulture. Already missing all ya'll from Buffalo!
Sure looks like everyone had a great time there!
So cool to put a real face with a blog after Buffalo. Hope you had as much fun as I did, crummy cough and all...
Looking forward to seeing your perspective of Buffalo, Kylee. I'm sorry I had to miss it this year and a chance to renew old acquaintances. Congratulations on being chosen as the photographer for Horticulture's article!
Oh your photo of that sign is much more in focus than mine! But mine's from a totally different angle, so I'm still going to use it. So nice to meet you in person, Kylee, and to spend time with your lovely mother.
Glad you got home safely! Annaliese was telling us about your trip up the creek w/out a paddle. I loved the photo.
Did you find the umbrella at the front desk?
See you soon.
Hi to mom.
MA
Freda ~ I got home from Columbus at 9:30 tonight and I can finally relax a little bit! So much fun in Buffalo and in Columbus! I've been gone for an entire WEEK! Crazy!
You need to come to this thing next year! I'd love to meet YOU!
Lisa ~ You were missed in Buffalo! :-(
Barbara ~ The OFA Trade Show was amazing! Not nearly enough time to see it properly, but we sure enjoyed what we did see. I met Marci from Proven Winners. She recognized me! ("I think I know you..." LOL)
I sure wish we were having breakfast together tomorrow morning like we did in Buffalo! *hugs*
Susan ~ So nice to meet you too, Susan! I'm sorry about your "crummy cough." No fun, that! And yes, I sure did have a ton of fun!
Rose ~ We missed you! Put Seattle on your calendar for next year!
Heather ~ It was so nice to meet you in person last weekend! (And Mr. Heather, too!) Didn't we all have the best time? :-)
Mary Ann ~ They delivered Mom's umbrella to our room! It was hanging on our door handle. Thanks! Yes, the creek walk! And I posted the feet of the five of us on my Facebook page on Sunday. Just SO much fun!!! It was great to see you again and boy, do I look forward to Seattle! :-)
Mom reads all the comments left here, so she'll get your "Hi." :-)
Ok, now I just need to get you the calendar! Expect it in the mail.
Best,
Eliz
Can hardly wait to read your posts!
Kylee - I loved those pix of you in the stream. I'm off now to your FB photos. I'm going to try and do that, too. I don't know how often you check the Horticulture magazine website, but I am on it! There is a pdf of an article I wrote about Elsa Bakalar in 1987 - because of the article in the new issue revisiting that garden now owned by noted artist Scott Prior.
Eliz ~ You know how everyone wonders how I get so much done? You're now seeing what happens when I'm buried under my "to do" list. Still working on photos! I'll have a post up this morning, though. :-)
Thanks again for all you and Jim did for everyone. Amazing, simply amazing. You even had time for problem children. Like me. LOL.
Pat ~ I haven't checked Horticulture's website yet, about your article, but I will! You're such an excellent writer. I look forward to reading it! I hope you'll check their site now and then, too, because I'm their new book editor for the online edition!!
So fun to meet you and really enjoyed having breakfast with you on Monday morning. I wish I'd had more time for little moments like that. What a wonderful group of people, wasn't it?
Dave ~ For some reason, your comment never showed up in my e-mail. I just saw it when I checked my dashboard.
Yes, we all had a wonderful time! You should join us next year!
