I'm such a messy gardener. My neighbor can't believe how dirty I get when I'm out there in my garden. He told me when he first met me (not in my gardening garb) that he thought I was a prissy girl. Ha! He knows better now.
I've learned to not wear anything I don't want to get dirty when going anywhere near the garden, because even if I'm only out there "just to check on the green beans," it never fails that I'll see something else that requires that I roll up my sleeves and get dirty. For this reason, I have a whole stack of clothes (and socks!) that I only wear when I'm in the garden. I don't need to worry about getting them dirty and for sure they'll never look clean again.
I've learned the same thing when it comes to footwear. There have been several gardening shoes and boots that I've worn over the last several years and while I like some and others not so much, my favorite pair of boots has to be the last ones I got (courtesy of GardenShoesOnline.com). They're the Bogs Women's Classic Mid Paisley. Besides being a big fan of paisley, I'm now a big fan of these boots!
And just why do I like them?
- Most importantly, they're comfortable. For some reason, other boots left my feet and toes sore at the end of the day. I can wear these all day and my feet feel fine.
- They're an attractive paisley print.
- They're easy to pull on and take off. Love the built-in handles on the sides!
- They're paisley! Have I mentioned that I love paisley?
- They're waterproof. I've got other garden clogs that I like (Sloggers Uni Clogs), but if I'm in a wettish situation, these boots are my footwear of choice. They keep my feet dry and they're easy to hose off if they get dirty.
- They're high enough to keep errant dirt out of my shoes.
- PAISLEY!
Right now, GardenShoesOnline.com has both the PAISLEY! boots and the Slogger Uni Clogs at special reduced prices. Need a gift or two for gardeners? What about yourself? Buy them both! :-)
My Bogs are heavy enough to protect my feet during digging, too. Lily seems to be captivated by the paisley. |

Wow, they look neat. Do they come in paisley?
The kids are wearing boots like these in the schools on rainy days. My girls have to have some, going to check out the sight now. I wonder if they come in paisley?
I have a new criteria when I search for garden boots now -- PAISLEY! Haha! I'm glad they are also comfortable, it's so disappointing when boots seem to fit at the store but rub you raw when you're actually out working in them.
Janet ~ They DO!! Isn't that great?! :-)
Darla ~ You're in luck! They come in paisley!
Eliza ~ Paisley is hot!
I have that same pile of clothes. My neighbors see me frequently covered in dirt from face to toe. I use my crocs since they are comfortable, but as you say the boots help keep your feet dry in wet conditions. I need that and the recommendation is great...I will go shopping for these boots but I hope they come in paisley..it's a must!
Kylee girl you sound like me .. even though my gardens are small I some how manage to get dirty no matter what I intended to do .. we are plain and simple GARDENERS that attract dirt ? haha
I love these boots and maybe I will just have to hunt them down here in Canada land too : p hehe
Joy
PS .. I also love Paisley !!
Are they easy to kick off or do you have to sit and pull? I've been eying these because they're short and look wide, therefore they may be short enough to not be encumbered by my ridiculously huge calves and wide enough to house all my toes ;-P
Donna ~ I also wear my Crocs sometimes, but they fit looser than the Sloggers so I prefer my Sloggers for working in the garden when I'm not wearing my PAISLEY Bogs. :-)
Joy ~ A fellow paisley addict! Somehow, I knew you'd like paisley, too! And yeah, I love getting dirty in the garden, too!
snarkyvegan ~ No, I don't have to actually pull them off. I can use my left foot to hold the heel of the right one and pull my foot out. And I think you'd be fine as far as your toes are concerned. The toe box isn't as big as Crocs' are, but not as small as regular shoes either. It's just right for a boot!
Haha - I'm such a mucky pup when gardening too. I swear the dirt just jumps up and lands on me!
I'm loving those wellies - especially the paisleyness! :)
