Earlier this summer, Flat Tire Décor sent me two of their unique containers. I’m a sucker for plant pots anyway, and these are extra cool. They’re made from used automobile tires! The way they’ve cut the tires and put them together is attractive and no two are exactly alike, because of the way they're made.
I decided to pot them up using some summer annuals.
I planted these with white Wave™ petunias, angel wing red begonias, and a zonal geranium. |
When winter comes, I’ll be bringing the containers into the house and using them in other ways. I might use the smaller one to hold our remotes. On their website, they show using one for putting beverages on ice. (They aren’t watertight though, so if you’re using them inside, you’ll want to allow for that.) The ways for using these is endless!
I like that they’re using a recycled material to make their product and that they’re being made in the US (Wisconsin). For more information about Flat Tire Décor, visit their website or you can find them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter @flattiredecor.

Very interesting! I like the recycling aspect of these.
I love these and bet they hold up really well...
This is a great upcycled garden product. I'm currently using my Flat Tire Decor bucket in my office to hold all my Seed Catalogs and Garden magazines <|;-)
I just discovered your blog, by way of someone who visited mine, and I really like it! Thank you for all the information you have posted. We are in the early stages of working a few acres of land we bought, with an old farmhouse, and turning it into something full of veggies, herbs, and flowers. I will enjoy reading and learing! Keep up the good work!
Aerie-el ~ I like that, too! :-)
Weekend Cowgirl ~ Yes, they do. I noticed the screws have rusted a bit though, so I'll clean that off and put clear nail polish over them.
Annie ~ That's a great use for the large one!
1st Man ~ Welcome to Our Little Acre! What fun you'll be having, working on your new farm!
