Enviro-Cakes™: A Review and Giveaway!

Earlier this year, I received a new product introduced by Batson's Foliage Group, a family-owned business in Florida, called Enviro-Cakes™. I'd read about it in their newsletter, wrote to Kelley to tell her how awesome I thought the product looked, and she offered to send one to me.

When it arrived, I got a kick out of the box and its handwritten labeling...

No excuses for mishandling this package!

Enviro-Cakes™ are a form of terrarium that has a plastic tray that you plant with live plants provided in the kit, which then sits on a heavy glass cake stand. Spanish moss is included to put under and around the plastic tray and a heavy glass dome covers the top.

I was impressed with the quality of the cake stand and dome, and the tray looks great planted with several plants and moss.

The Enviro-Cake™ arrived here on May 20th, and now - six months later - it still looks as good as the day it arrived. I've not lost a single plant and the only care I've given it is to take the dome off a couple of times to mist the plants when the dome doesn't show any signs of moisture inside. It couldn't be easier.

What a great housewarming, birthday, or just about any occasion gift for gardeners and non-gardeners alike. Contact Batson's at Enviro-cakes@comcast.net for information about ordering one. They are available both with ($79.99) and without ($39.99) the cake stand. Shipping is included in the price.

Now for the fun part! Batson's has allowed me to give an Enviro-Cake™ away to one of my readers! Simply leave a comment here by midnight EST on Saturday, November 19th and one reader will be randomly chosen to receive an Enviro-Cake™ of their very own.

*I received one Enviro-Cake™ free of charge for review. I have not been compensated in any way for my opinion of this product and all opinions expressed here are honest and my own.

What a beautiful living presentation and use of a cake stand and cover! This would look fabulous in my rustic western living room... And you know it would have a good home here and that I would feed it well Naturally <|:-)

But the big test is...is it kitty proof? It looks kitty proof, which would be great for me, since I have one plant-killing kitty who will go to GREAT lengths to eat plants.

Annie ~ I just love this. And yes, I know it would receive the BEST of care at your ranch! :-)

unsightly ~ Perfect for kids! It's so easy!

Candi ~ Well, we have two inside cats and they haven't bothered it at all - not even the Spanish moss, which surprised me. You wouldn't have to have any of it on the outside if you didn't want to.

Beat me to the question Candi. I have feline devils as well. Fake plants don't even stand a chance here.
I love the look of the greens in the cake stand! What a great idea and a cool gift idea.

I love this idea, especially how long it lasts. Way better than flowers and at about the same price. I hope I get one! I have the perfect place for it. Thanks for sharing!

What a terrific idea - finally, a plant that my cat can't nibble, shred, staple, fold, or mutilate. My grandparents always had a large terrarium, but the modern version Enviro-cake would be perfect on my kitchen table and wouldn't spoil my diet!!!

Way cool! I would like one of those. I don't have houseplants in general as I tend to kill them, but this sounds like a winner for bringing a little living material into the house.

Wow!
What an awesome living environment that would be a true blessing to give to someone on my Christmas gift list. And, by the way, thank you Kylee for your commitment to post each day this month, some very pleasant reading to start each day.
Thank you and God bless you,

Now THAT'S just an ingenious idea. I love it. 2nd Man is a baker, I'm a gardener, I could snag one of his cake stands and he'd for sure wonder what I was doing with it! Ha!

Wow - this is the most gorgeous terrarium I've seen yet! What a fantastic idea, and really well done. I have a cat who likes to get into any house plant he can reach...plants under a glass dome might be my ticket to bringing my love of gardening inside!

I have a hard time keeping house plants alive, but a terrarium would be perfect in my house!
