Few words here - just photographs of the amaryllis (Hippeastrum) that have been blooming at Our Little Acre.
'Piquant'
'Grandeur'
'Blossom Peacock'
A great book, with photos of many amaryllis cultivars is Amaryllis by Starr Ockenga. Unfortunately, it's out of print at the moment, but you can still find some copies for sale on Amazon.

Hi Kylee,
You are so right. Very amazing you have so many amaryllis growing indoors. Let's see... which one is my favorite? I'm always partial to red so I would have to say the Red Velvet... but I do like the lighter feel the double petal of the "peacock" seems to give.
Glad you get to enjoy all that color!
Mine as you know were leveled by the freeze. No greenery except what is newly pushing out. I do have one bud shooting out of the ground... maybe more will follow. YOu never know...
Meems @ Hoe and Shovel
Meems ~ My favorite keeps changing! There are several yet to bloom.
I do hope you manage a few blooms this spring! I can't wait until I can put all of mine outside in their own special bed. I'm willing to bet that the ones you gave me might give me a bloom or two!
I was thinking the other day it's high time that Kylee did another post on Amaryllis. ;-) Well done, Queen of the Amaryllis!
BTW love the Rembrandt van Rijn for more than 1 reason. ;-)
Hey Kylee- I never really "got" these flowers until our community center gym started growing on the counter where we entered our passcodes. Seeing it every day and watching it grow from a giant ugly bulb to beautiful stout flower was pretty amazing.
Tom
I love the deep reds, too, but I don't think I could pick just one favourite. They're all so beautiful. I especially like the candy stripes of "Grandeur", particularly if you could get it to bloom at Christmas. :-) Lovely, Kylee!
Oh so pretty !!
We have one indoor green plant...that's it.:(
Thank you for so many views of one of my favorite plants! Where do you get your bulbs? Some of these are new to me.
Such a stunning collection of Amaryllis, and nice photography!
You have so many. I like the Rembrandt but cannot really pick just one because they are all so pretty
I like the new blog wallpaper, very springy. You have so many gorgeous Amaryllises, it's hard to choose a favorite. I'm torn between 'Rembrandt van Rijn' and 'Grandeur.'
A gorgeous collection of Amaryllis in bloom. Beautiful pics, Kylee!!
Beautiful! I have to say the 'Royal Velvet' is my favorite!
Kylee, What a wonderful variety of flowers! I didn't notice leaves on Solomon. Isn't that unusual? Favorites? That's too difficult. I can't do it! They're all lovely!
Kylee -- ok, few words back at'cha...wow!
Wow! All so beautifully grown and you've gotta love those 'in your face' blooms!
Yolanda Elizabet ~ I figured you would like that one! ;-)
Tom ~ I'm so glad you "get it" now! It is pretty amazing! And it happens pretty fast, too.
Nancy ~ They each have their own beauty. I could have had more blooming at Christmas; I just waited too late to pot them up. I just potted up 'Rilona' today!
Patsi ~ Want some more? I think I could probably spare a few. LOLOL.
Daffodil Planter ~ I have gotten them from various locations, including Walmart, Lowe's, Amaryllis Bulb Company, and another online company that I can't think of right now (It's been awhile since I ordered from them.)
Cathy ~ Thank you!
Wow! I have three of them, and NO blooms.
Oh my. You have such a wonderful collection of gorgeous Amaryllis. I've oohed and aahed over a few of them before but you can never see them enough. I think I need more bulbs now!! How did I ever think I had enough?? That book looks wonderful too. I think I'll put it on my wish list....
Yes, the amaryllis speak for themselves. You have such a good collection.
I have my second amaryllis to bloom this winter in it's full glory on my kitchen counter right now - two full blooms and another about to open. It's all red, but not as dark as your Royal Velvet. These were given to me as offshoots from a coworker two years ago... It took them this long to bloom, but they're worth it! Now I'm hooked and will want more variety...
