I'm loving the weather inside the house where flowers are blooming! My 'Apple Blossom' amaryllis (Hippeastrum) that I've had for two years is finally blooming for the first time. The blooms are HUGE! The flower stalk is one of the taller ones I've had, too.
Most amaryllis have that beautiful pearlescent quality to their petals and 'Apple Blossom' is no exception.
The passiflora has bloomed a second time. I had three 'La Paz' amaryllis bulbs and two of them are in bloom now, whereas one bloomed earlier. I'm not sure why all three weren't in sync. 'Solomon', 'Lemon Lime', and 'San Remo' have all put up flower stalks, so those will be in bloom in a week or so.
Now what am I "Geez, Louise-ing" about? I'll give you three guesses and the first two don't count. You know we have several inches of snow on the ground now, right? Guess what the weather report for tomorrow night and Saturday is? Six to eight inches of new snow!
I just don't know what to say.

Your 'Apple Blossom' amaryllis is beautiful!
Thank you for your visit on Heimdal!
Hug from Marie
Love seeing this beautiful amaryllis Kylee. We are to get that snow too..whine...
I love amaryllis! My mother has been growing Appleblossom for years, and I started with two last year and added three more this year. So far I have planted about 6 different colors and love every one. Yours are so pretty. It is nice to have such blooms at this time of year.

Beautiful amaryllis! We have lots blooming outside and they are calling for snow for us also, just so it doesn't dip down too cold and stay that way, most should survive, but it is the same as with you, wave after wave of cold! Queasiness is coming over me...

More snow? Good grief!
Apple Blossom pretty!
Me much better!
That was worth the wait! Hopefully, I can say that about spring blooms soon too. It looks like we might get some snow too, but not the amounts that were in the forecast yesterday. Whew, looks like we may dodge this one! Hopefully it won't be as bad for you either.
It just started snowing this very minute in Columbus. Now they're calling for 2-4 inches today and 3-6 tomorrow. We'll see. I took the day off, so I don't mind if we get snowed in so much. :)
So sorry. Sometimes, it seems like spring will never get here, doesn't it?~~Dee
It's all going to melt next week, I just know it!
Well, even with snow on the ground, at least you have that gorgeous, satiny amaryllis on the inside.
At least you aren't suppose to get the 10-12 we are here in Dayton... :-D Spring will NEVER get here at these rates, but I'm glad that it's Spring on your blog!!!
Kylee, Optimistically speaking: 1) the snow won't last long, 2)it will add just that much more moisture to the ground for the Spring growing season, 3)you may as well enjoy it those short-lived flakes because 4) it'll soon be Spring and we won't have to deal with them until Next Winter!
Realistically: Well, here we go again! ;-)
Meanwhile, aren't you glad you have those thousands of plants indoors? Plus, your blooming Amaryllis is gorgeous!
Good news, Kylee, the storm has been downgraded and we're looking at 1 to 2 inches now with sunny skies next week. Only in zone 5 in March would we celebrate a high of 36 and partly sunny skies (Monday).
Geez Louise (I say that all the time!). We're getting downpours here, flood warnings all over the place, glad I can't afford to be near the waterfront.
One advantage to snow is that you don't have to smell wet dog all day. Phooey, it stinks here tonight.
Allow me to one-up you: We have another 7 to 13 inches on the way, on top of what we received today... oh, and did I mention the BLIZZARD WATCH for tomorrow? (Yes, seriously!)
UGH. I'm sooooo done with winter!
I know what to say.....PLEASE STOP, I GIVE UP, I'VE HAD ENOUGH!!! Not that it will do any good, after all, it is Indiana.
bless your heart! sending wishes for spring sunshine without the blanket!
wish i had an amaryllis like that. mine got so leggy that i took them to the garage after about a month of tall stringy leaves with no blooms!
What a beautiful Apple Blossom! I bought two last year and as luck would have it when they bloomed they were Desires instead. Oh well, that's the price you pay for mass marketing.
What a beautiful bloom. Thank you for sharing.
The Apple Blossom amaryllis I planted last fall has just decided to start up. I'm hoping I'll eventually see a bloom. Yours looks fantastic.
